''It''s relatively easy to give quotes and sell cover online for standard bikes,'' says Bikesure''s Robert Balls. ''But the unusual, the wonderful and the weird are much more difficult. Bikesure is all about freethinking insurance, offering cover for the biggest range or rides and riders. We''re determined that our online service will do the same, as near as possible.'' The Quote & Buy service relies on the size and flexibility of Bikesure''s online database – allowing visitors to select from an enormous choice of bikes. Once the form is completed, the system automatically assesses whether or not it can offer cover, and at what price – giving the visitor the option to buy there and then or get a call from expert Bikesure staff to discuss the quote further. ''If the bike, trike or quad is totally off the wall, or if the rider has really unusual circumstances, then a phone call may still be needed,'' says Robert. ''But in the great majority of cases, the online service will be able to quote there and then, and the biker can be covered instantly.'' Bikesure hopes eventually to extend the Quote & Buy service to custom builds, too. Meanwhile the QuickQuote service gives you a very quick idea of what your insurance is likely to cost, without going though the rigmarole of logging in and filling in long forms. ''If you just want a ball park figure, for example if you''re thinking about buying a new bike and want to know the insurance cost roughly, QuickQuote is ideal,'' says Robert Balls. ''It''ll rustle up a quote in seconds. ''Obviously, if you decide to go ahead with the quote you''ll need to fill in the forms, at which point you may find you qualify for bigger discounts than QuickQuote can allow for.''
