HARLEY-DAVIDSON SUPPORTS OXFORD CHARITIES
15 March 2007 - Harley-Davidson UK
Oxford is gearing up for one of its biggest events in 2007.
The Oxford Moonlight Stroll charity walk is set to hit the city’s streets on 30 June. Dedicated charity representatives and Fox FM presenters launched the event on 5 March by riding pillion around the planned nine-and-a-half-mile route aboard Harley-Davidson motorcycles. The bikes provided by Oxford Harley-Davidson and members of the Oxford UK Chapter helped the representatives to get a feel for what members of the public will experience this summer. The moonlight stroll is an excellent way to see the city at night by foot while raising money for worthy charities such as Sobell House Hospice and Fox FM’s Help An Oxfordshire Child Appeal. The event is a stroll - rather than a race - to appeal to participants of all ages and fitness levels. Kath Morris, Head of Fundraising at Sobell House Hospice Charity says, “We were delighted to welcome Oxford Harley-Davidson and Fox FM’s Adam and Ali to the launch. It was a fantastic to see so many Harley-Davidsons take to the roads of Oxford and we are hopeful that the event itself will attract a similar level of attention and support.” The event is just one of several local charity initiatives that are being supported by Oxford Harley-Davidson. The Oxford UK and Thames Valley H.O.G Chapters hosted a toy run event on 14 and 15 March in aid of John Radcliffe Children’s hospital. More than 250 Harley-Davidson motorcyclists turned out to ride across the city to deliver toys to patients. The two-day event was hosted by the Oxford dealership and also included the unveiling of a custom-built motorcycle - the Switchblade. Oxford Harley-Davidson Dealer Principal John Phelan is happy to support local worthwhile causes. ''Getting involved in events like this is what Harley-Davidson and H.O.G are all about,” he explains. “We ride - our Harleys - and have fun, and if we can bring even a little bit more enjoyment to others then so much the better!''
