TRIUMPH UNVEILS NEW ONE MAKE SERIES
08 March 2007 - Triumph Motorcycles Ltd

The new Triumph one - make series was unveiled last week at the Spanish circuit of Calafat.

2006’s International Bike of the year, The Triumph Daytona  675 is the weapon of choice for this new series, with the bikes running at almost standard road spec and only minimal modifications permitted, ensuring a very level playing field.

Engine: 675cc 3 Cylinder
Weight 167Kg
Power: 113 BHP

The one make series will be hosting two titles:  ''Michelin Young Guns'' for the 16-25s and ''Triumph Triple Challenge'' for the older riders. Strictly enforced regulations will ensure controlled bikes and as everyone has to use identical Michelin tyres, rider ability is everything.

The three days of testing at the Calafat circuit near Barcelona saw a gentle start on Friday when everyone was unwrapping their new pride and joy for the first time. Within an hour or two they were all out on circuit enjoying the excellent power and set up from these standard machines.
With the exception of some rain on Saturday, everyone had a great weekend and as the days moved on it was very clear that a few of the Young Guns stepping up from Aprillia 125 Superteens, in particular last years 3rd place finalist Jimmy Dye, were extremely happy in the seat and putting in some respectable times.

Other riders entering the championship include Brigestone’s  ''Rider of the Year 2006''  AJ Hutchinson and many Bemsee/MRO Riders including: SuperSport 400 champ Greville Ball, Mike Collins (brother of British Superstock Cup champ Bob), Mike Booth, Jimmy Dye Dave Giffould, Rob Guinan, Jack Sim, Ricky Chadwick, and Martin Keable to name a few.
The first round of the championship will be held at the Norfolk circuit of Snetterton on 14th & 15th April.   All rounds will be run alongside the BMCRC/MRO series and will also be televised on Sky (Motors+).

I think the organisers T-3 Racing are on to a winner here and the series is going to be very exciting, offering some of the closest racing we''ll see this year.
