SHORT TRACK TO RACING SUCCESS
02 March 2007 - Harley-Davidson UK
Harley-Davidson UK is strengthening its hold on the world of motorcycle racing with a sponsorship deal for the 2007 UK Short Track Championship. The Motor Company has pledged its support in the form of title sponsorship of the Thunderbike class.
The seven-round Harley-Davidson Thunderbike Championship will visit five venues from April through to September this year and provide an affordable racing option for many riders. For the first time ever the championship will also stage a half-mile dirt track race in Wales. This takes the series another step closer to its famous American counterpart. Short Track racing is the UK’s closest equivalent to American flat track racing – a series in which Harley-Davidson’s famous XR750 has been the most successful race bike of all time. This made the Short Track Championship a perfect fit for the legendary motorcycle manufacturer. Visitors to each round of the Harley-Davidson Thunderbike Championship will have the opportunity to win one of the Motor Company’s other machines. A Harley-Davidson® XL883 Sportster®, which costs from £5,195 on the road, is up for grabs as a competition prize throughout the whole season. Winning could be as simple as buying a raffle ticket. “The Harley-Davidson Thunderbike Championship is an ideal opportunity for the brand,” explains Harley-Davidson Marketing Manager Greg Willis. “It provides exciting and yet affordable racing, and promotes the sporty side of Harley-Davidson. These are key messages for 2007 with the popular Sportster® range.” “We’re delighted to welcome Harley-Davidson on board,” says series organiser and Short Track expert Pete Boast. “Their support of the championship is invaluable and I hope that it will help to raise the profile of Short Track racing in the UK. We have an exciting season to look forward to and I can’t wait for it to get underway.” Please visit www.shorttrackuk.com for a full calendar of events for the 2007 Harley-Davidson Thunderbike Championship.
