SPEEDWAY 1 EASTBOURNE owner Bob Brimson has turned up the heat on rivals Poole ahead of the derby clash at Arlington on March 17. Brimson, who is preparing for his debut season with the club, believes their south coast rivals are taking a risk with their team. He said: “Having Jason Crump and Bjarne Pedersen in your team is a huge gamble for Matt Ford. Much as I like Matt a lot, I sincerely hope he comes a cropper with this!” SPEEDWAY 2 BELLE Vue''s World Cup star Simon Stead is ready to take over the club''s No 1 mantle after the departure of world champion Jason Crump to Poole. The 24-year-old Sheffield rider comple! ted his new deal at a Press conference held in the splendid surroundings of Manchester United, the club he supports. He said: “I’m going to be the youngest No 1 in the league and I know I''ve got a huge challenge trying to follow Crump.” SPEEDWAY 3 FORMER Exeter favourite Michael Coles is back in the Premier League after completing a move to Berwick. Coles, a huge favourite in Devon, is the last member of the Bandits side to be confirmed for the new season. Berwick chief Peter Waite said: “There’s no substitute for experience and Michael’s got plenty, plus he’s a very capable points scorer who has vast mechanical knowledge as well.”
