FRACTURES TO THE CLAVICAL
09 December 2006 - Aprilia
After the injury to Marco Simoncelli’s right shoulder even Jorge Lorenzo had to leave the Valencian circuit early.
The Spanish rider, who fell during the third morning of Aprilia testing in Valencia, fractured his left scapula upon impact with the asphalt, already injured during the Gp in Catalunya that was treated with a surgical insertion of a titanium plate. Immediately transferred to the hospital, Lorenzo is now in Barcelona where he is being seen by a medical team of his choosing. At the time of his fall, Lorenzo had completed seven laps and his best time was 1’36”5. During the absence of Lorenzo, it was Hector Barbera who completed the lion’s share of the last day’s testing. Lorenzo’s teammate made the most of this last day of testing and finished a total of 60 laps and the day’s best time of 1’35”8. Also finishing testing was Alex De Angelis. The rider from San Marino who is bringing forth the development of the 2006 RSW 250 completed about fifty laps alternating it with the 2005 for testing purposes. At the end, his 1’35’’8 was the second best time of the day. “It was a positive session – said De Angelis – these tests served a purpose beyond continuing development of the motorcycle, getting to know my new team. After these three days I am sure that I’ll be able to do very well with them next season. Regarding the new motorcycle I leave Valencia convinced that we are going in the right direction.” Always more at ease atop the Aprilia is Alex Debon. The Aprilia test rider raced at a constant pace with his best time of 1’36’’2 while Roberto Locatelli ended his testing in the saddle of the Team Toth motorcycle with 60 laps and a time of 1’37’’4. New tests are planned for the beginning of 2006. TESTING TIMES 1) Hector Barbera Aprilia 60 laps 1,35.8
