WOLVERHAMPTON SPEEDWAY NEWS
22 February 2007 - Wolverhampton Speedway

AMERCAN legends Bruce Penhall and Sam Ermolenko are ready to roll back the years... by racing the machines they used to win the world championship!

The duo will be on board their old bikes in a series of demonstration races at Ermolenko''s farewell meeting at Wolverhampton on Sunday, March 18.

Penhall will ride the machine he was on when winning his first world crown at Wembley in 1981 - and Ermolenko will use his 1993 machine which took him to the title in Germany.

''It''s going to be a special moment, I have no doubt about it,'' said Ermolenko. ''And it''s something I''m excited about, so is Bruce.

''Bruce gave his 1981 machine to Eddie Bull, his ! engine tuner, and Eddie has kept it ever since, it''s like his pride and joy.

''He took a look at it recently and there''s some work which needs to be done on it to restore it to such a condition that Bruce can do four laps on it.

''As soon as the idea was floated past us, we went for it. This is a massive thing for my day, it''s very emotional and I know a lot of people will want to see it!

''My bike from ''93 isn''t too bad ad I''m sure a lot of fans will want to come and see me race it again. Brce is equally as excited as I am over the whole deal!''

Ermolenko is also keen to emphasise how the stadium will be open from midday and not 1pm as reported previously.

The corporate package of £38 per person for a three-course Sunday lunch in the Monmore Green restaurant, admission and programme is provng very popular but there are tables still available.

Bookings are being taken by Tracey Hartle - and not the stadium - on 07747 560095.
