HONDA IS ‘GOOD TO GO’
14 January 2004 - Honda (UK)

Honda UK has announced a realignment of its 2004 motorcycle prices to include ‘on-the-road’ (OTR) charges in a move to eliminate any confusion for its customers. It means Honda’s phenomenal new Fireblade can be ridden away from dealers at a ‘Good to Go’ price of £8,799, £500 less than that of its nearest competitor.

Until now, the recommended retail prices (RRP) of Honda motorcycles have not included the costs of delivery to the dealer, pre-delivery inspection (PDI) or the road fund licence. These charges have traditionally added £250 or £350 to the RRP, depending on the model.

Since the PDI for the sophisticated, six-cylinder Honda Gold Wing is considerably more complicated than that for a 50cc scooter, Honda has reviewed the charges on a model-by-model basis and announced its new pricing structure to its UK dealer network yesterday (13 Jan) at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham.

Other ‘Good to Go’ prices announced at the Honda dealer conference include £4,599 for the new, unfaired CBF600 and £5,199 for the faired version with ABS brakes. The all-new CBR125R, styled on Honda’s world championship racing machines, comes in at just £2,349 – ‘Good to Go’ for Honda’s younger, sports-conscious customers.

''This is an important move for all our customers,'' explains Honda’s Head of Commercial Operations, Matthew Stone. ''Traditionally they have seen our motorcycles and scooters advertised at a certain price and then faced additional charges at the point of purchase.''

He continues: ''Now our customers can walk into a Honda dealer without any of that earlier confusion, making it much simpler for them and their dealer to conclude an agreement for the bike of their dreams.''
