STONER IN THE FIRST ROW
14 October 2005 - Aprilia
PORTO IN POLE,
Sebastian Porto, Aprilia Aspar 250, concluded the first qualifying session of the Australian Gp getting the provisional pole position thanks to the time 1\'' 33\''117. The Argentinian rider on the Phillip Island circuit, last year had gotten the pole (the time 1\''33\''381 of 2004 it’s just beaten today from the same Porto) and the victory in the race. ''This is one of my favourite track- said Sebastian - it is clear that I want to do the same of the last year. The bike goes fast and when a rider is in good condition on it lap times come. There are certainly a border of improvement and I am sure that tomorrow we will have the time to do all we can fot that. In compare to the tests, the competition will be another thing, there will be still certainly the group fight for winning, but we have tomorrow still for confirming the pole.'' Behind the Argentinian, with the second time (1\''33\''423) there is the Australian Casey Stoner (Carrera Sunglasses LCR) in struggle for the world championship title after the victories in Malesia and in Quatar. ''I am very happy - said Stoner - of as the tests gone this. This morning we had some problems, I didn\''t have feeling, it was impossible to drive with the wind. But for the 45 minutes of qualifying session we have made a beautiful change, my Aprilia has become more stable: it is driven well and I am optimist for Sunday. Here there are my fans and logically the pressure makes him feel, but for the time being I am calm and I face this GP as all the others.'' Out of the first row for 0,7s, Alex De Angelis, that finished in second both qualifying and race in 2004, ended his qualification in fifth but he’s confident for tomorrow’s session. \''We have worked looking to the competition - said Alex - above all we’ve look for the tyres choice for the race and I’m satisfied. Having lost the time in the first free session, I have not pushed, we are now however near to the solution of our problems. I am sure to do better in this track that is one of my favorite. \'' In second row there is, with the eighth time (1\''34\''998) Randy De Puniet of the Aprilia Aspar 250. ''I have not had a lot of confidence in the brakes - said De Puniet - we will certainly resolve the problem in the free ones of tomorrow and I will be able push.'' Third line for Simone Corsi (MS Aprilia Italia Corse), eleventh while Roberto Locatelli (Carrera LCR), thirteenth, is in fourth provisional line.
