QATAR FIRST DAY TEST COMPLETE
13 February 2007 - Rizla-Suzuki

SUZUKI MOTOGP PROGRESS IN QATAR

Rizla Suzuki MotoGP has completed the first day of the Official MotoGP Test in Qatar as the team continues with the development of the GSV-R800 prototype motorcycle.

John Hopkins ended the day with a time of 1’57.35 – almost a second-and-a-half quicker than his best 2006 race lap - from his 63 laps. The Anglo-American spent the majority of the test getting the set-up correct for the new bike. Hopkins and his crew made many different geometry settings as they continually-developed the GSV-R throughout the day.

Team-mate Chris Vermeulen carried out a similar test schedule to Hopkins today and consistently improved on his times as the day progressed. He recorded 61 laps of the 5.3km circuit and clocked a fastest time of 1’57.94, almost a second quicker than his best time during last year’s Qatar Grand Prix.

Rizla Suzuki MotoGP will carry out a full and comprehensive test of Bridgestone race tyres - that have been specially designed for this track – over the remainder of the test: The Japanese tyre company will be working closely with the team to get the best grip and durability for the GSV-R around this desert circuit.

A full report on Rizla Suzuki MotoGP’s Qatar test will appear on this site at the end of the three day test. For more information on Rizla Suzuki MotoGP and to receive up-to-date news and information, visit www.rizla-suzuki-motogp.co.uk and register with the free-to-join fan club.
