APRILIA PROTAGONIST IN PHILLIP ISLAND
15 October 2005 - Aprilia

STONER, DE ANGELIS AND PORTO DECISIVE

Aprilia great protagonist of the second, decisive 250 qualifying session in Australia with Casey Stoner (Carrera Sunglasses LCR) in pole position, Alex De Angelis (MS Aprilia Italy Raced) and Sebastian Porto (Aprilia Aspar 250) in the first row respectively with the third and fourth best time.

The house rider, Stoner, could not let escape the occasion of a good performance in front of his public and he has detached the pole with the time 1\''32\''756 better than seven tenth in comparison to yesterday\''s time.

\''We have found really a good order - has said Stoner at the end of the tests - when I have climbed on the soft rubbers I have succeeded in getting a good time. I am first, Pedrosa is sixth: it would not be badly to repeat tomorrow this result.''

Between Stoner and the leader of the championship, the 250 World Champion, Daniel Pedrosa, there are only 26 points, a victory of the pilot of the Team LCR would shorten the distances.

Great protagonist of the Saturday’s session has been Alex De Angelis. The MS Aprilia Italia Corse rider crashed during the free practice session of the morning but that has not prevented him to mark his 1\''32\''882, third good time of day.

''This morning we have had a lot of traction problems - said Alex - and in fact I crashed beating violently the back. Fortunately I have been able to drive in the second qualifying session. The team has done a big job to seek the traction that this morning didn\''t have and a motorbike has made me available decidedly best and this has allowed me to be always fast. Sincerely after the blow of this morning I was afraid not to succeed in holding the gas in the fast turns. Sinned only that have been hindered by a slower pilot in the good turn, otherwise I would have been able to be even more before.''

In the first row but disappointed is Sebastian Porto that last year finished the official tests with a pole position. Today he is in fourth position with the same time done yesterday, 1\''33\''117.

''Sinned - said Sebastian - we have had a problem toward the end of the session and I have not been able to improve yesterday\''s time. Overall the motorbike is all right and I am sure to be able to aim to the victory tomorrow.''

Aprilia is in struggle for the conquest of the championship, detached by a solo point (278 the points in classification) from the top.
