2006 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
28 July 2005 - Aprilia
HERES THE CALENDAR
The FIM has released with the provisional calendar for 2006. Not too many changes; there will still be 17 races and there is no new entry in the world level. However, what is different from 2005 is that the season will begin at the end of March and finish at the end of October as opposed to this years finish date of November 6th. Just like this year, the racing debut for 2006 will be on the track of Jerez de la Frontera on March 26th. April 8th the schedule will move towards the warmer climate of Qatar to race at Doha and then, on the 23rd of the same month, it will turn to Turkey. May 7th the race will be held in Shanghai and then the international competition will return to Europe to race at Le Mans in France on May 21st. The Italian date will be June 4th in Mugello and the following week (just like this year), it will move towards the Catalan hills of Montmel๒, close to Barcelona, on June 11th. It will stick to the same itinerary that it followed this year and after the second Spanish race it will turn to Holland (Assen specifically) for June 24th. The course then heads south to Sachsenring where the Gp will be raced in Germany on July 2nd. Hoping not to run into the furious rain in England like this year, the 2006 Gp in Donington will take place on July 16th. Once again, only the MotoGp will head to Laguna Seca to race on American territory on July 23rd. As tradition requires, just one installment will be held in August in the Czech Republic. At Brno, the motors will light up on the 20th. September is the month for intercontinental trips for the world championship. Starting the 10th, it will head to Sepang, Malaysia and then on the 17th it will head to the Australian Phillip Island, to then end the 24th at Motegi. October 8th will be the Estoril stop for the Portuguese Gp and the final stop (just like this year) will be in Valencia on October 29th, unlike November 6th of 2005.
