SPEEDWAY 1

WORLD Indoor Ice co-promoter Graham Drury believes that more than half of the field can win the British Open title at Telford on Sunday.

Czech star Mario Jirout defends his title but faces competition from several proven ice specialists.

Drury said: ''There are as many as ten that are in with a real chance of lifting the championship and I haven''t got a clue who will win!''

SPEEDWAY 2

NEW Sheffield signing Joel Parsons admits that he was initially scared by the large Owlerton circuit - but is now raring to go for the Tigers.

Parsons impressed with Newport last season and now lines up with his parent club for th! e first time.

Parsons said: ''When I first raced the track was heavy and I did struggle with it, but I''ve no worries about the place now.''
