WOLVERHAMPTON SPEEDWAY
26 October 2004 - British Speedway Promoters Association
DAVID Howe ended Mikael Max''s three-year domination of the Ladbroke Olympique hanidcap event with a deserved victory at Monmore Green on Monday night.
Howe fought his way though from the back in determined fashion on a number of occasions and then took advantage of some bad luck for former Wolves ace Peter Karlsson at the end of the meeting. Howe''s pass of Ricky Ashworth in Heat 17 left him on 13 points and set Karlsson the task of winning the next race to force a run-off. The Swede duly took the lead by rounding Scott Nicholls on the first lap but slowed with mechanical trouble on the last lap and dropped to second place to confirm Howe as the winner. With Max dropping points in Heat 20, Karlsson finished in second spot overall with Nicholls third. SCORERS: David Howe 13, Peter Karlsson 12, Scott Nicholls 11, Mikael Max 10, Charlie Gjedde 10, Fredrik Lindgren 9, Sam Ermolenko 9, Jesper B Jensen 9, Chris Neath 8, Adam Skornicki 8, Josh Larsen 8, Ricky Ashworth 6, Marius Rokeberg 3, Robin Tornqvist 3, Karol Malesecha 1, Shaun Harmatiuk 0.
