SHARPENING RIDING SKILLS IN SAFETY
01 March 2004 - Honda (UK)
As spring approaches and warmer weather begins to entice motorcyclists out of their hibernation, Honda is encouraging riders to think about brushing up their road skills with ex-GP racer, Ron Haslam, and his race school at Donington Park, home of the British MotoGP.
The Honda Ron Haslam Race School caters for riders of all levels of experience – from novice to expert – and, for the first time in 2004, riders will be able to put the best selling CBR600RR through its paces, on the full GP circuit. ''There’s no doubt that your riding can get rusty after a few months off,'' says Honda’s Communications Manager, Greg Willis, ''and there’s no better way to get back into the groove than on track.'' Willis continues: ''Safety is paramount on Ron’s courses, with a lot of emphasis on braking and cornering that can be applied on the road afterwards. The great thing is that a race track is one of the safest places to ride a bike with no road signs, no myopic car drivers and everyone travelling in the same direction!'' The Haslam school provides all riding gear and Honda machines, as well as expert tuition from some of the UK’s top racers and riders. Twenty dates are scheduled in this year’s calendar with the first course taking place on Wednesday, 14 April. ''There is no doubt that riding skills and awareness deteriorate after a lengthy layoff,'' concludes Willis. ''A day with Ron Haslam and his tutors will benefit even the most experienced rider as well as biking novices; plus, the chance to have fun riding on a GP circuit is a fantastic opportunity.'' The Honda Ron Haslam Race School can be contacted by telephone on 01332 883323.
