AWARD FOR MASSEI
12 December 2006 - Aprilia

In accordance with tradition, the “Caschi d''Oro” award ceremony was held in Bologna again this year.

Put on by the Motosprint magazine to celebrate the World Champions from various motorcycling disciplines, the Italian riders who won at least one Grand Prix were awarded with the Caschi Tricolore (tri-colored helmets).

The 2006 edition (extra important and popular since the magazine is celebrating its 30th anniversary) awarded Bayliss, Hayden, Lorenzo, Bautista, Capirossi, De Angelis, Dovizioso, and Valentino Rossi as Top Rider. In front of a public composed of many personalities from the world of two wheels (among them the President of the Italian Motorcycling Federation, Paolo Sesti), our Fabio Massei was also awarded. The young Roman rider was the winner of the first edition of the Junior GP Racing Dream, an Aprilia-only competition organized with the collaboration of FMI and Motosprint. “Great emotion and a lot of joy – commented Massei – since just one year ago I was racing my mini-moto and now I am here. This is truly something special. The Junior GP is giving me a lot of satisfaction and an opportunity that I don’t want to let slip away. To be here tonight, among so many champions, it a gift that I didn’t expect and for this I want to thank everyone, starting with Aprilia, the Italian Motorcycling Federation, and Motosprint”.

In the 2007 season, Massei will participate in the CIV (The Italian Speed Championship) atop an Aprilia 125GP with Ferruccio Lamborghini, this year’s 2nd place finisher.
