2007 HILLCLIMB SEASON CHANGES
05 February 2007 - AMA Pro Racing

AMA RACING ANNOUNCES CHANGES TO HILLCLIMB CHAMPIONSHIP / 2007 SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED

AMA Racing announced today major changes to the AMA Hillclimb Championship. Beginning with the 2007 racing season the championship will feature three separate classes. Xtreme Hillclimb, Unlimited Hillclimb and new for the championship, Pro Sport Hillclimb.

The changes come at the conclusion of a series of meetings with stakeholders including the AMA Hillclimb Rules Committee, riders, promoters and manufacturers, among others.

The Xtreme Hillclimb class will consist of 0-600cc multi-cylinder two or four strokes, 0-700cc overhead-cam twin-cylinder four strokes, 451cc-700cc single-cylinder two or four strokes and 0-750cc push-rod twin-cylinder four stroke motorcycles. For the 2007 season only, other push-rod twins of larger displacement that were used in competition during the 2006 season may be “grandfathered” into this class.

Motorcycles with engine displacements of 701cc-unlimited any number of cylinders, two or four strokes, and 751cc-unlimited push rod twins can compete in the Unlimited Hillclimb class.

Pro Sport Hillclimb, new for the championship, will have 400cc-450cc four stroke, single-cylinder engines. Riders competing in this class must hold a current Pro Sport license.

Ken Saillant, AMA Racing Flat Track Director said, “We’re very excited about the ’07 AMA Hillclimb season, especially with the addition of the 450 Pro Sport Hillclimb class. This class offers a great opportunity for riders who traditionally have not participated in Hillclimb to come onboard.”
