A TOUGH START TO SEASON

WOLVERHAMPTON have been handed a tough start to the new Elite League speedway season.

The Monmore Green club have two tricky away meetings at Swindon and Reading on March 22 and 23 before they open their home campaign with the return against Swindon on Monday, March 26.

The Robins were very much a bogey side for the Parrys International Wolves last year as they, more than any other club, scuppered their play-off aspirations by winning twice at Monmore Green.

Wolves legend Sam Ermolenko will officially open the Monmore season on Sunday March 18 with his farewell meeting which starts at 4pm.

Good Friday, April 6, see Wolverhampton make the relatively short trip to Belle Vue with the return against the Manchester men on Easter Monday, April 9.

The first derby clash of the season against rivals Coventry takes place at Brandon on Friday May 4 with a quickfire return to Monmore the following Monday.

Club owner Chris Van Straaten has also confirmed the date of the hugely popular Banks''s Olympique meeting on Monday October 15. As previously announced, the British Final comes to Monmore on Monday June 4.
