FABULOUS QUALIFYING PERFORMANCE FOR THE RSV!
21 April 2006 - Aprilia
A wonderful performance from the Aprilia Motociclismo Test Team on Friday during the official qualifying on the circuit of Le Mans.
With an incredible time of 1.42.821, Fabrizio Pellizzon has improved yesterday’s best time set by his teammate Daniele Veghini, and the RSV 1000 R Factory will take off in the 24 Hours with 18th place in the starting grid and 3rd among the Stock bikes. The Aprilia Motociclismo Test Team is also the best Italian team in the grid. Fabrizio got a very huge time and stopped the chronometer ahead of all the other stocks in his own test rotation. ''We are satisfied with what we did today'', commented Pellizzon. ''The motorcycle raced well and we know we’re doing well. We demonstrated that we’re able to play our cards against everyone. The track is extremely technical and filled with violent breaks and continual accelerations. We are ready and will demonstrate that in good time. Besides the Superbike group, there were only two stocks ahead of us and they could take advantage of their profound knowledge of the track since they were French. Tomorrow we will give it our all, as we always do, and we’ll see how it goes.'' Also good were the performances of Daniele Veghini (who registered the best team time yesterday), and Federico Aliverti (who got back on the bike after a spectacular fall during Thursday''s session). Tomorrow’s race promises to be quite the show as Team GMT94 led by Gimbert, Checa and McCoy will open up a starting grid that is full with Superbikes. There will be 56 teams from 15:00 onwards on the track for a long and exhausting race characterized by extremely fast changes of riders and rapid refueling. The most important rule is to not leave the track and keep a steady pace through the 24 hours of race without any errors as they repeat the same 4,180 meters of track at least 700 times. As we await the very complex and fascinating race, here below is the link with the official starting grid. And, so as to closely follow our team’s prowess, we invite you throughout the whole day of racing to completely and directly live the ''solid'' performance of our RSV. With continual updates and contributions from the circuit, www.aprilia.com will follow the evolution of the race live. For all the 24 hours, you will be at the side of our team at Le Mans. In the meantime, at the link below are the videos from today''s box. What are you waiting for? Warm up your mouse and jump in the saddle with us!
