NO RIVALS FOR BOTTURI’S RXV
23 April 2006 - Aprilia
April 23, 2006 marks the start of the bi-cylinder’s era in the Enduro.
In the second day of the third engagement of the Italian championships came the historical affirmation of Alessandro Botturi’s Aprilia RXV in the 450 4T class. The victory was part of the plan for this first official season of the revolutionary motorcycle and the result was punctual, coming exactly half-way through the season at Castiglion Fiorentino. A finish that was in the works since Saturday, as testified by the only 5.99 seconds that separated Botturi’s third place from the top position. Four peremptory victories and three laps on Sunday in which he led brought him the well-deserved success. “I am really excited – were the first words from a satisfied Botturi at the finish line as he dedicated the first 25 points to the team – because it confirms that all our choices proved to be winners”. On a very technical track with a hard and challenging surface, the RXV 450 was able to show off all the potential that’s been growing since the first race of the season in Sicily, but still very similar to what we saw in the initial phases of the season as Stefano Passeri, ground manager of Team Aprilia, underlined. “After the first adjustments to the electronic mapping, we intervened on the suspension as necessary on the most treacherous of terrains. But everything went smoothly, a natural evolution of a decisively valid project. And it was with ease that we reached our objectives, giving us great confidence”. In the 450, the development of the RXV 550 (entrusted to Alex Zanni) has also continued at Castiglion Fiorentino. He awaits smoother tracks that will allow the most powerful of the Aprilia bi-cylinders to best express itself. Zanni closed out the two Tuscan days in 4th and 6th place. The weekend that could have ended up even more satisfying for Zanni if it weren’t for a small electrical inconvenience in a day that characterized by a comeback and victory in the races.
