THE RXV CONQUERS POINTS IN PORTUGAL
09 May 2006 - Aprilia
The Portuguese GP, the second engagement of the Enduro World Championship, took place on Saturday May 6th and Sunday May 7th.
It was raced on the very technical and selective Guimaraes track, that became more and more difficult as the race wore on due to the worsening of the terrain. Continually deeper holes and tracks truly put the riders’ physical shape and the bikes’ mechanical resistance to the test. Making it even tougher was an extreme special trial, where every little error had an enormous effect on the final results of the race. Notwithstanding the difficulties of the Grand Prix, the official Aprilia riders did well on both days, carrying forth the severe trial-by-fire for the development of the RXV 4.5 and 5.5. In the E2 class, Alessandro Botturi was 11th on Saturday and 14th on Sunday, when he finished in 20th place overall. He now occupies 12th place in the world standing with 29 points. Alex Zanni, busy in the E3 atop an RXV 5.5, closed out the first day in 12th place and then brought himself up to 8th place on the last day. The provisionary E3 standing has Zanni in 9th place with 48 points. The next engagement is scheduled for next weekend at Guernica, just a few kilometers from Bilbao, where the Spanish Grand Prix will take place on May 13th and 14th. For now, you will find all the RXV’s times on the Portuguese track at the link below.
