SUCCESS FOR ALEXZ
04 February 2007 - Alexz Wigg
Last year was a great success for Alexz, see below, and hopefully 2007 will bring further achievements as Alexz progresses to the next level.
Over the winter months behind the scenes Alexz has agreed terms to ride for the Spanish Gas Gas Factory, Hebo Clothing (Spain) and Gas Gas Motos UK. Being restricted to riding a 125cc at world events until 18 it has been decision time regarding which class to ride. Alexz was very firm in his views having secured the Youth World Championship at 16 years of age he wanted to progress as quickly as possible and the decision has been made to ride the Junior class on a small machine. Up against older riders on full capacity bikes will be difficult, but the factory and John Shirt fully support this move. In Britain riding as an adult for the first time in off road events he will ride a JST Gas Gas 300 and on road events usually a 125cc. Said Alexz “it’s fantastic to get support from the factory, it will be a big help this year. We were very keen to stay with Gas Gas as we are sure they have the best bikes for the job. John Shirt has been a tremendous help in sorting the deal, all I have to do now is get some good results. It will be a real challenge this year, and I felt I had to move up as I wanted to take the next step, it is going to be tough but that’s what its all about”. Realistic goals would be a top five in the World Juniors and top seven in the British championships. On the machinery and clothing side Alexz has now got considerable support but as in previous years our biggest problem is getting to the events. Two fly away rounds (Japan and Guatemala) and thousands of miles travelling across Europe taking in Spain, Scotland, Wales, France, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic, Norway, Ireland, Andorra, Belgium, the SSDT and as many British Nationals that we can fit in. A big thanks to all that helped and supported us in 2006, lets do it again this year! Sponsors for 2007 are as follows:- Gas Gas Motos (Esp), JST Gas Gas (UK), Hebo (Esp), Bert Harkins Racing, SPJ Autos (Paul Ray), Potters of Barnsley, Renthal, Michelin, Sea France, John Lee Mcys., Talon, Trials Central, I want to wheelie.com, Olney Pine (Michael James), DZign (helmet paint) Andrews Building Company (ABC), South Midland Centre ACU. 2006 Achievements - Youth World Trial Champion, Spea Trophy, European Junior Champion, British A Class Champion, Youth Indoor Champion, YMSA A Champion, Pinhard Prize Winner.
