ON THE PROM WITH TT IS BACK

The evening entertainment that forms an integral part of many fans'' TT holiday will move this year from its traditional spot near the Sea Terminal to a central location on Douglas promenade outside the Villa Marina complex.

The evening shows will run for 10 nights from Thursday of Practice week to the Saturday after Senior Race Day and will be organised on behalf of the Department of Tourism and Leisure by Duke, the local company who have been involved with the big screen video and entertainment for a number of years.

The company has been commissioned to put on ''the best shows'' yet for the TT Centenary year and Managing Director Peter Duke says that the company will be ''pulling out the stops'' to keep the crowds amused each evening.

Mr Duke explained the reasons for the move to the Central Prom and away from the Jubilee clock opposite Bushy''s beer tent near the Sea Terminal.

''First and foremost, there is barely enough space at the old location to accommodate the 8,000+ people who''ve been coming to see the evening shows in recent years, never mind the 20,000 we expect to be on the Prom on the peak nights this year. The viewing experience for the family audience in particular was grim at the best of times and the doubling of expected crowd - local and visitors - could have led to major public safety issues this year. At the Villa location the main big video screen will be visible by at least 4 times more people - and we also have enough room to provide a second screen facing back into the Villa gardens. The whole area forms a natural amphitheatre, with everyone''s view helped by the straighter roadway. The performers should also appreciate a smoother surface!''

The full schedule of events is still being finalised, but World Stunt Champion Christian Pfeiffer is one of several top international stunt riders expected. Spectacle is also guaranteed by the return of the amazing Jet Quad piloted by Dutchman Michael Kooij for at least 4 nights. On the Wednesday of Race Week, TT on the Prom will present probably the biggest gathering ever of famous motorcycle racers and machinery ''up close and fired up'' for the crowds to really appreciate the sights and sounds of TT history.

''We are aiming to make TT on The Prom 2007 world-class, spectacular, memorable and entertaining, so we are pretty busy right now and will announce more details of those appearing and the shows we are planning over the next few weeks'', concluded Peter Duke.
