SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES 25.10.04
25 October 2004 - British Speedway Promoters Association

EXETER’S Mark Lemon won the prestigious Pride of the Potteries meeting at Stoke after home rider Paul Pickering retired when leading the final.

''I just hit a hole and that threw the chain,” said Pickering. “I was gutted'' Lemon said: “I had paced myself through the meeting and felt that I could have passed Paul anyway. It’s immaterial really but I’m so pleased to have won this for a second time.”

NEW Belle Vue owner Tony Mole has confirmed he has had permission to open talks with Rory Schlein. The talented young Australian is leaving Edinburgh to move into the Elite League full-time and Coventry have already been linked. Mole said: “We have first call on Rory because he rode for Belle Vue this season and of course we will be talking to him, he is very talented.”

DAVID Norris won Eastbourne’s rider of the year award at the weekend – and he has told club bosses to count him in next season. He said: “Sometimes in our sport you can be punished for performing too well and I hope my average doesn’t stop me from staying with Eastbourne. “To be honest I’ll feel very unlucky if I’m ruled out because of that but you never know.”
