APRILIA WINS ITS FIRST TRICOLOR
11 September 2006 - Aprilia
Paolo Ceci gave the House in Noale its first Tricolor won with the revolutionary two-cylinder RXV 4.5, a versatile bike capable of adapting itself to the demands of a special discipline like the Motorally.
The rider from Modena won the title two races in advance, winning 6 of the 7 trials of the 450 class, until now, disputed. An important success, thanks to the professionalism of the private team Gabrielli Giofil who knew how to quickly capitalize on the potential of the Aprilia RXV 4.5. Paolo Ceci did not let his first three match points slip away, in order to ensure his success in the Motorally Italian Championship 450 class. Saturday, September 9 in Paesana, in the Cuneo province, the rider from Modena got his first win in a tricolor off road with the Aprilia RXV 4.5, managed by the private team Aprilia Gabrielli Giofil. Ceci immediately started out on the attack, and was also the fastest of the day on Saturday, decidedly out in front of Matteo Graziani (Ktm). “To have won the Italian title in the 450 - said Ceci – is in itself a wonderful thing and even more so because I did it in the saddle of the Aprilia two-cylinder. A revolutionary bike that surprised everyone with its potential in a difficult and selective discipline like the Motorally. It just feels better to win with an Italian bike. Returning to the race, I started off on the attack because I always think about the Ranking where today I was able to get first in front of Matteo Graziani, and all year we’ve been fighting it out. He immediately got off to a good start, where we lost a little time trying to find the right setting on a very new bike. I’d like to thank Aprilia and all the components of my team, in particular my two team managers Filippo Assirelli and Sergio Gabrielli and the mechanics Marco Lusa and Enrico Malaguti. All of them worked hard on this win beginning with a special bike, the Aprilia RXV 4.5, which they adapted to the demands of Motorally until it was able to achieve a prestigious goal such as winning the Italian Championship, in its debut year.” The team celebrated the title win by giving out a nice shirt with an eloquent design accompanied by an anglo-modena slang of “Two Cilinder is mei che one” (two cylinders is better than one). Sunday, the second day of the race, Ceci finished in sixth place, third in his class.
