UNLUCKY RACE FOR ATKINS
22 June 2006 - Aprilia

After Darryl Atkins’ great start in the AMA Supermoto Championship (4th and 6th place in the first two trials), the rider from New Zealand was once again the victim of bad luck.

Set-back by Shavano’s fall (of Team Pacifico Racing) and listed in the Unlimited Category atop an Aprilia SXV 5.5, he took another race-ending hit during the 4th trials that took place in Tooele on June 17th.

Qualifying with the 7th best time, he took off from the box early due to a banal electrical problem that kept him from finishing out the race. The fifth trial of the AMA Supermoto Championship will be disputed next July 8th in Detroit where Team Pacifico Racing, after two winless races, will again seek glory at the top American race for the supermotard.
