BRITISH FINAL AT MONMORE
01 February 2007 - Wolverhampton Speedway
WOLVERHAMPTON will host the British Final for the first time in their history this summer. The prestigious event, which offers the first step towards Grand Prix qualification, takes place on Monday June 4. Wolverhampton owner Chris Van Straaten said: ''It''s a meeting which lost some of the appeal, mainly because there was nothing but the national title on the line. ''Here was have a direct route through to the final stages of qualification to the 2008 Grand Prix series and I am also hoping BSI will accept a proposal that the winner should be the wildcard for Cardiff - or the highest placed rider not currently in the GP. ''That would be a massive incentive and it would be something else to add to the meeting. I believe it''s winning back some of the old appeal and I''m very much looking forward to staging the event at Wolverhampton.'' The British Final is one of the new Super7even series of big events to be staged throughout the season. Organisers are pleased to confirm the events have the full support of the SRA - Speedway Riders'' Association - which ensures greater co-operation from the riders.
