CELEBRATED ON FILM
29 November 2006 - Aprilia

The emotions on the track have been put down in writing as the curtain closed on the enthusiastic 2006 Off-Road season with the Fim (International Motorcycling Federation) award ceremony that honored the 2006 World Champions.

On Saturday, November 25th in Monaco, the best off-road riders were celebrated in the famous Salle des Etoiles. Among those that you certainly couldn’t miss was the Aprilia Off-Road Team, the true dominator of the World S2 Supermoto Championship. Representing Aprilia were Mariano Roman, director of the B.U. Off-Road, Engineer Ampelio Macchi, and Ennio Marchesin, the sporting director of Aprilia Off Road. The World S2 Supermoto Constructors’ Championship title (obtained by the Aprilia SXV 4.5) and the S2 World Riders’ title (won by Thierry Van Den Bosch) received official recognition in the last act of the Fim awards.

This is how the fantastic season for Aprilia ended, with six international titles. Never has Aprilia won six titles in a single season. In fact, the Supermotard Riders’ and Constructors’ titles should be grouped together with those of the Motomondiale (won by Spaniards Alvaro Bautista in the 125 and Jorge Lorenzo in the 250) and the corresponding international constructors’ championships.
