The first pole of the 2006 season goes to Mattia Pasini of the Master Aspar team.
He has qualifyed on top after an an exciting battle with Lukas Pesek (Derbi) in the last few laps of the today’s qualifying session. After a hard duel between the pair Pasini is able to edge ahead past the Derbi rider, and takes the first pole of the year with a time of 1’46.937. “I am afraid for Lukas – said Pasini after the end of the qualifying session, even though I was following, I did not want stop him doing well. I too found myself also in a little bit of traffic first. I am happy to have the first pole of the season, for sure if you could win points for gaining the pole position then I would be even happier! I dedicate this result to my whole team who have worked really well now, and also in winter testing”. To be on pole position on the grid at the first race of the season, is thanks in part also to the Aprilia bike.
