A COMPLETELY SPANISH PODIUM
03 May 2006 - Aprilia

Team Master Aspar conquered the entire125 podium with three riders

Hector Faubel, Alvaro Bautista, and Sergio Gadea rounding out the podium.

For Hector Faudel, it was the first success of his career, obtained after much time and effort. The Iberian rider completed an aggressive race, not conceding any space to his teammate and leader of the international classification, Alvaro Bautista. This season’s two-time winner didn’t break Faudel’s stubbornness that allowed him to the finish line two-tenths of a second ahead of Bautista.

Behind them was Sergio Gadea, seeking out a better position than third. Master Aspar Team’s performance will certainly be recorded in the annals of motorcycling history. No team has ever placed three riders atop the125 podium in a single race. Far from the podium was another Master Aspar rider, Mattia Pasini, a favorite heading into the race who took-off in second. Mattia wasn’t able to take advantage of his starting position and was swallowed up by the group. Nervous about his poor take-off, Pasini then fell but got back into the race, finishing in 17th place, outside the point zone.

Also solid was Joan Olive’s race (of SSM Racing) who finished in fifth. Lorenzo Zanetti (of Skilled I.S.P.A.) also obtained his important first points of the season, closing out in 8th place while Angel Rodriguez (3C Racing) placed tenth.

The race in Istanbul saw six Aprilia motorcycles in the top ten of the125, a result that underlines Noale’s leadership in the constructor’s championship that it is commanding with seventy-five points, a fifty-three point advantage on its closest followers.

Regarding the riders championship, Alvaro Bautista stays in the lead with seventy points. He was followed by teammate and winner in Turkey, Hector Faubel, and by Sergio Gadea, also from Master Aspar Team.

The next engagement will be held on May 14th on the Shanghai track in the Chinese Gp.
