BAUTISTA EL ''NINO'' GANEADOR
21 August 2006 - Aprilia

Alvaro Bautista, from the Master Aspar Team, dominated the 125 race going on to win the Czech Republic GP, out in front of Mika Kallio and Gabor Talmacsi.

The Spanish rider made good use of his Aprilia, both at the start where he was able to immediately take the lead, and at the end, where just a few meters away from the checkered flag he was able to pass Mika Kallio, moving to the head of the pack in the last curve.

The Czech Republic race saw four riders battling it out to the end; the winner Bautista was accompanied by Kallio, Pasini, Pesek and Talmacsi. Behind them there were Faubel and Gadea from the Master Aspar Team, who battled it out with Nico Terol (Derbi), Nieto (Multimedia Racing) and Olive (SSM Racing).

Right from the beginning, the first group began to separate itself from the others and the distance grew to as much as five seconds. Bautista and Pasini immediately tried to make a getaway, but out of all the riders, it was Martinez that led the way with Kallio. At the end of the race, Alvaro Bautista decided to put some distance between himself and his followers and was able to leave Pasini, Kallio, Pesek and Talmacsi almost a second behind. The battle between Pasini and Kallio ended with the Italian rider giving into the pace Kallio had set in order to catch Bautista. Pasini, in the end, said that he was not able to keep up with Kallio’s rhythm, and decided to maintain a position that would bring him precious points for the classification.

Just before the last lap, Kallio was by now in the wake of Bautista, who was easily keeping the others at bay, closing all the possible passing opportunities. Kallio, however, found an opening at the last curve and slid by, taking the lead. The pass, however, was anticipated by Bautista who on the next straightaway was able to take back the lead, and the final victory. In the meantime, Pasini lost his spot on the podium due to Lukas Pesek’s falling in front of him in the last curve. With today’s performance, Alvaro Bautista continues to be at the top of the 125 classification with 230 points, 69 more than Mika Kallio.

Thanks to Bautista’s victory, Aprilia is the indisputable leader of the manufacturers’ classification with 253 points, an 87-point advantage over KTM.
Bautista’s victory also represents the 86th Aprilia win in the 125, and the 201st victory in the two classes.
