SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURE 30.1.07
30 January 2007 - British Speedway Promoters Association
SPEEDWAY 1 BRITAIN''S top riders will be on hand at the MCN London Motorcycle Show this weekend. Grand Prix duo Scott Nicholls and Chris Harris will be at the British Speedway stand on Sunday and the event lasts four days at ExCel. It starts on Thursday, February 1, through until Sunday and speedway will be represented throughout. Ipswich star Chris Louis will be at the stand on Friday from 11am-1pm and Arena-Essex man Paul Hurry will take to the main stage for appearances at 12.30pm and 3pm which represents a golden opportunity for the sport. British Speedway chairman Pete Toogood said: ''We regard this as a perfect chance for the sport to be promoted alongside other areas of motorcycling. ''It''s a prestigiouys event at a prestigious venue and I also see it as perfect for the likes of Arena-Essex to gain some exposure because of their locality to the Docklands area. ''As an association, the BSPA are pleased and proud to be taking a presence to the show and we hope it again helps raise the profile of the sport.'' SPEEDWAY 2 BRITISH Speedway’s major events could be raced on neutral tracks next season. King’s Lynn co-promoter Jonathan Chapman, the driving force behind a revamp of the top meetings, is backing the idea. Dates and venues will be revealed this Thursday. Chapman said: “Fans always have the same gripe about the home riders having the advantage and we have taken that into consideration for what promises to be an exciting series of events.” SPEEDWAY 3 JESPER B Jensen will have three of the four British clubs he has represented at his testimonial meeting. Home side Peterborough will face his current club Oxford and Wolverhampton, the club he joined in 1997, at the East of England Showground on March 25 (3pm). He said: “It’s going to be a special day and one which I hope all my friends in speedway will enjoy.” FIXTURE SUNDAY FEBRUARY 11: TELFORD INDOOR ICE INTERNATIONAL: 3pm & 7.30
