LAST RACE OF THE YEAR WON BY FABEL
30 October 2006 - Aprilia

Hector Faubel won the Valencia Community GP, the last race of the 2006 season.

The Valencia rider fought it out with the others, including Alvaro Bautista who finished up fourth. On the podium, together with Faubel, was Kallio and Sergio Gadea (like Bautista and Faubel, he’s also from Master Aspar Team). Gadea lost second place due to an error on the last curve before the straightaway to the finish line.

Bautista, who was once again in the saddle of the new Aprilia 125 RSA, raced well. He started in pole position bet after the first lap he was in ninth place; in only three laps he was back out in front. The new world champion of the 125 was fighting for the victory with his teammate Faubel well beyond the half-way mark of the race. The two left their followers, Kallio, Gadea, Pesek and Espargaro, behind.

For Pasini, it was a forgettable final race. Starting off in fourth place in the first row, Mattia was not able to take advantage of the situation, and let himself get sucked back into the group. In the end, the Italian rider, crossed the finish line in ninth place, leaving Kallio with second place in the world rankings.

For Faubel it was his second season victory, the first being in Turkey, while for Aprilia the Valencia race was the twelfth win in the 125. Pablo Nieto finished up his experience in 125 (next year he will have to leave the category due to the age limit) at 10, arriving ahead of Talmacsi and behind Espargaro, while Zanetti, from Skilled Ispa Team, got one point with his fifteenth place finish.

The world ranks for the 125 have Bautista as World Champion wit 338 points, and Hector Faubel in third with 197 points, as well as Pasini in fourth with 192 points and Sergio Gadea in fifth with 160 points.

With today’s race, an enthusiastic season ends for Aprilia in the 125. The World Championship win, both for manufacturers and riders, came with three races left to go, in the race at Phillip Island in Australia. Not only that, but in the race in Portugal, the new Aprilia 125 RSA was debuted, and it began its journey on the race tracks of the world with a win, and this time with a great fourth place finish.
