FUTURE CLASSIC ON SHOW AT NEC
26 October 2004 - Watsonian-Squire

The Royal Enfield Bullet Sixty-5 has been awarded the title of “Future Classic of the Year” award at the 11th Carole Nash Classic & Motorcycle Mechanics Show, 2004.

The Show is one of the biggest events in the classic motorcycle calendar, attracting some 25,000 visitors and the award demonstrates that Royal Enfield has stayed true to its roots in the eyes of enthusiasts.

The Royal Enfield Bullet has been in continuous production since 1949, with Enfield India manufacturing 24,000 motorcycles a year at their plant in Madras, following the closure of the original UK factory in 1970.

Launched in 2003, the Bullet Sixty-5 features a new 5-speed gearbox, developed in the UK by Dr Stuart McGuigan at Cranfield University. Royal Enfield''s UK distributors, Watsonian Squire (of side-car fame since 1912) styled the bike to reflect the look of British bikes in the 1960''s, hence the name, (sixties styling + 5-speed gearbox = Sixty-5). The factory was so pleased that they decided to use the name and styling throughout Europe. The Sixty-5 has been a hit with UK riders and accounted for 60% of Royal Enfield sales over the past 12 months.

The Royal Enfield Bullet Sixty-5 is available through a network of dealers across the UK, priced at £3,348- on the road.

You can see the Bullet Sixty-5, alongside the new Bullet Electra-X, with its new lean burn engine, at the NEC Motorcycle Show, 4 - 14 November 2004.
