TESTS END IN VALENCIA

The Aprilia tests have finished on the circuit “Ricardo Tormo” in Valencia for the Aprilia 250 riders.

The last day, characterized by not very good weather conditions, Alex De Angelis, busy with the development of the 2007 frame, did not get out on the track in order to compare the 2006 bike with the new version. The asphalt, due to a light rain during the morning, did not lend itself to the type of work that the San Marino rider wanted and so he decided not to race.

On the Valencia track, however, were Alex Debon (test pilot for Aprilia Racing), Alvaro Bautista (Master Aspar Team), Thomas Luthi (Caffelatte Racing), Karel Abraham (AB Cardion Racing) and Imre Toth (Toth Team).

The fastest of the day was Alex Debon, who in saddle of the test motorcycle, completed 60 laps in 1’36”4, the best time. The Spanish rider did a few engine and system test of the new 2007 motorcycle.

For those debuting in the 250, the apprenticeship continues. Thomas Luthi improved his time registered yesterday by more than 8 tenths, with a 1’36”5. Luthi, in the afternoon, was also the main contender in a small skid, but this didn’t impede him from continuing the test (50 laps by the end of the day).

Also Alvaro Bautista had a good day: the new world champion in the 125 improved his time with a great 1’36”8, finishing up his trials with 70 laps run. Karel Abraham had some difficulties, and finished his test up early in the saddle of the RSV250LE due to a ruinous fall that did not allow the mechanics enough time to repair the bike in time to finish the test. But there were no grave consequences for the Czech rider. Toth, who was also in the saddle of the LE, finished up without problems, closing with a time of 1’38”0, beating his time from yesterday by more than 1.7 seconds.

The next Aprilia tests will be at Jerez from November 20-22.
