POOLE boss Neil Middleditch was satisfied with a 48-42 defeat in the first leg of the Knockout Cup Final at Ipswich.
The return leg is at Wimborne Road on Sunday October 31 at 2pm and Poole will fancy their chances of completing the double. Middleditch said: “I thought we would have a good chance if we stayed within eight-points and that’s what we’ve done. I’m happy with the result.” ELITE League entertainer Adam Skornicki is included in Stoke’s Pride of the Potteries on Saturday. The Wolverhampton man will face a host of top Premier League stars including Mark Lemon, Craig Watson and Stoke’s own leading riders. The outcome will be decided in a Grand Final shootout. Potters chief Dave Tattum said: “I wouldn’t like to predict a winner, it’s too close to call, but that’s how it should be.” WORKINGTON are expected to have a new manager installed by the end of the month. Ian Thomas, who helped relaunch the Comets in 1999, is leaving to join Belle Vue in the Elite League. Workington owner Tony Mole said: “My negotiations with a potential new manager are at an advanced stage but that’s all I am prepared to say on the matter at this moment in time.” FIXTURES FRIDAY OCTOBER 22: LEIGH LANHAM TESTIMONIAL: Arena Essex OFF CONFERENCE LEAGUE KNOCKOUT CUP SEMI-FINAL: Oxford v Mildenhall 7pm CONFERENCE LEAGUE: Oxford v Mildenhall (follows KOC meeting), Boston v Buxton 7.30 CONFERENCE TROPHY: Weymouth v Sheffield 7.30 SATURDAY OCTOBER 23: PRIDE OF THE POTTERIES INDIVIDUAL: Stoke 7.30 THREE TEAM TOURNAMENT: Rye House v Ipswich v Peterborough 7pm CONFERENCE LEAGUE: Buxton v Wimbledon 7.30 SUNDAY OCTOBER 24: JACK YOUNG SHIELD FINAL 1ST LEG: Reading v Hull 6pm CONFERENCE LEAGUE: Carmarthen v Buxton 2.30, Wimbledon v Rye House (at Rye House) 2pm SIDECARS: Carmarthen (follows CL meeting) --- *BREAKING NEWS THROUGHOUT THE DAY AVAILABLE FROM: OFFICIAL BRITISH SPEEDWAY CLUBCALL NEWSLINE 09066 555 909 (calls cost 60p/min)
