NEW TUONO FACTORY
03 October 2006 - Aprilia
A lot of adrenaline in the saddle and critiques from a true leader:
The new Tuono 1000 R Factory wins over the specialized press which participated in the latest presentation of the Aprilia hypernaked during the Press Launch at Levico Terme, Italy. Here we bring you the critiques from the experts, after the street trial of an extreme bike, born to have fun. INCREDIBLE PHYSIQUE The motor, as has already been said, is noteworthy for its pick-up, even from the lowest gears. Coming out of the curves, in second gear, the Veneto V2 races ahead with just a tap on the gas, taking the front wheel with it: a freedom allowed thanks to an elevated faith in the rock-like front chassis, which was never compromised by the traction offered by the rear wheel. A really great bike, one that brings back the desire to curve and push the gas. Powerful, ready, but never difficult to manage for a rider with a minimum ability: the best frame, top suspension compartment and excellent two-cylinder combine to make one of the best Italian products on two wheels. With its substance and attention to the finer details, Aprilia seems to the best adapted to give the Japanese a great competition, both for quality and quantity. Infomotori AN UNBELIEVEABLE PACE In the curves, you find yourself leaning without even having to move a lot in the saddle (I thought was a little slippery), thus leaving you with an incredible reaction speed and also very precise driving, skills not usually attributed to large handlebar bikes. It takes very little to get up to a fast pace, which in my opinion is unmatched by any sport bike, especially because all this speed is accompanied by excellent brakes and gives a total sensation of control. Even when accelerating out of turns, the Tuono is never nervous, and it doesn’t wobble, even when the anterior wheel loses contact with the asphalt, and I can guarantee you, this happens often. Motorbox BEYOND LIMITS Tuono 1000 R Factory offers unreachable precedents for any of its current two cylinder competitors, joined with a cyclist even more sophisticated, that doesn’t even fear a run-in with even a real Superbike. A professional instrument for all those riders that demand the highest levels of technology and performance available. Demanding riders, with a refined palate, will certainly appreciate the record performances of this amazing street fighter. Topmoto The brake system is the top – radial tongs with four brake linings and braided brake tubes, but a lot of exuberance can easily be made use of even on the street thanks to the good mobility; for sudden stops, the response of the anti-skid friction is greatly appreciated. The saddle position isn’t extreme, in fact, for being a SBK without a chain it’s really comfortable: but to “attack” the street it’s necessary to shift your weight to the handlebar putting the load on the front chassis to limit the tendency to pop a wheelie when you hit the gas. Coming out of the curves, in fact, the back wheel always tries to come up, but its enough to just not get scared because the Aprilia doesn’t lose its direction not even in breaking curves. Obviously if you insist and drive aggressively, the psychological and physical requirements of the Tuono are high…so take it easy on the street. Otherwise, take it to the track, something we’ll be doing very soon. Motonline
