NEW GLOVES FROM WEISE PUT TO THE TEST
26 January 2007 - Weiss
Revolutionary WEISE KNOX SPS Gloves to be tested by Dean Ellison in WSBK
WEISE® will be one of the first brands on track with gloves featuring SPS, the revolutionary Scaphoid Protection System by KNOX®, which will be protecting Britain’s Dean Ellison as he races the World Superbike Championship for Team Pedercini aboard a factory Ducati 999. The WEISE KNOX SPS gloves have a full grain leather construction, with overlay on the back of the fingers, the outer side of the little finger and on the palm. In addition there are 10 separate carbon fibre shields on each hand, covering the finger joints, knuckles and wrists. They are held firmly in place with an adjustable Velcroâ wrist retention system. However, closer inspection reveals the Knox SPS, which consists of two carefully shaped polypropylene panels placed on the palm of the glove. These eliminate the ‘grab effect’ (when the palm makes contact with the road in a crash situation) and allows the outstretched hand to slide along at the same speed as the rest of the rider’s body, significantly reducing the danger of one of the most common wrist injuries suffered by motorcyclists in general and racers in particular. Following initial testing in Valencia this January, Dean reported that the SPS did not interfere with either comfort or riding style and he is looking forward to the coming season with confidence. The WEISE Knox SPS gloves will be available in black/white, black/red and black/blue in sizes XS –XXL priced at £69.99.
