RACING WITH COMPLETE CONTROL Dunlop is serious about racing. The British tyre manufacturer uses its on-track experience from more than a decade of championship success to develop new technologies for road products. This enables it to mass produce tyres for riders of all types and levels. Dunlop has increased its investment in motorcycle racing for 2007 by supplying the control tyre to the exciting new Ducati Sport 1000 Cup. All competitors in the championship, which runs alongside the popular Desmo Due series, will benefit from the use of its critically-acclaimed Sportmax Qualifier. The single-make Sport 1000 Cup gives experienced and club racers the chance to take part in a competitive championship within a budget. Riders compete aboard standard Ducati Sport Classic motorcycles at circuits including Brands Hatch, Donington Park and Assen. Use of Sportmax Qualifier as the control tyre in the eight-round series helps to maintain a level playing field for all riders. As well as supporting the Ducati Sport 1000 Cup, Dunlop remains the leading tyre supplier to the British Superbike Championship in 2007 and has extended its support of the youth classes to title sponsor of the ACU MotoStar Cup. Dunlop’s support of the Ducati Sport 1000 Cup also reinforces its commitment to discovering new motorcycle racing talent. The manufacturer understands the importance of cultivating youth in the sport, which enables Britain to develop the next generation of champions at the domestic and world stages. “The Dunlop Sportmax Qualifier has already proved itself at the 600cc class in the 2006 Yamaha R6 Cup,” says Dunlop’s Sales and Product Support Manager Bryn Phillips. “Supporting the Ducati Sport 1000 Cup will demonstrate the tyre’s capabilities on twin cylinder machines at the next level.” “Supporting a manufacturer-based class will help to create awareness of Dunlop and the Sportmax Qualifier,” says Sales Manager for Dunlop Motorsport UK Phil Plater. “We already have a strong relationship with Ducati through the British Superbike Championship and the Airwaves Ducati team. “Factory partners are important to us in racing. Dunlop’s association with credible brands such as Ducati UK in championships such as the Sport 1000 Cup enables us to continue to develop credible street tyres such as the Sportmax Qualifier.” The overall champion of the series will be awarded a special Ducati Sport 1000 Dunlop-liveried guest bike as part of their prize.
