SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURE 19.1.07
19 January 2007 - British Speedway Promoters Association
SPEEDWAY 1 COVENTRY have added Berwick’s Stanislaw Burza to their squad. Burza, 29, will be the club’s number eight to deputise when necessary, but his full-time duties remain with the border club. Coventry boss Colin Pratt said: “I’ve had a chat with Peter Waite, the Berwick promoter, and he speaks highly if Burza. I feel sure he can do a good job for the team whenever he’s called upon.” SPEEDWAY 2 STOKE chief Dave Tattum has moved to clarify his position with the club after reports described him as ‘co-promoter’. Tattum, who unveiled a new team sponsorship deal with Easy Rider this week, is keen to put the record straight. He said: “I am the only promoter of Stoke Speedway and I certainly haven’t sold half the business to anybody! The reports created some confusion amongst fans and sponsors alike.” SPEEDWAY 3 CLIFF Carr, the man who revived speedway in Sheffield in the early 90s, has died. Carr, a cousin of former Tigers riders Peter and Louis, brought the sport back at Owlerton in 1991 after a two-year gap. Current Tigers promoter Neil Machin said: ''Cliff Carr was a vital ingredient in the continuity of Speedway racing in Sheffield. He endured some difficult times and I am sure will be missed by many.'' FIXTURE SUNDAY FEBRUARY 11: TELFORD INDOOR ICE INTERNATIONAL: 3pm & 7.30
