NEW EVENTS MANAGER FOR BMF
20 January 2007 - BMF

The BMF has appointed a new Events Manager, Gareth Hughes.

Gareth, 29, takes over the post recently vacated by Paul Moreton and will lead the team responsible for the BMF Show, the Garden of England Motorcycle Show, Kelso Bike Fest and the Tail End, the BMF’s end of season show.

Experienced in event management, Gareth has previously worked for and on behalf of Leicester Shire Promotions and was responsible for Leicester EXPO 2005 and 2006, the launch of the Leicester Regeneration Master Plan and Leicester Shire Day. He has also worked on other exhibitions and trade shows and advised on the National Outdoor Event Association security issues panel.

Although motorcycling is a new field for him, Gareth says that while the essential organisational elements of shows and events are similar, he is fully aware of the unique nature of enthusiast-driven events and the need to get the attractions right. For that he will be very much depending on his existing team of BMF events’ staff, Cherise Hardy and Louise La’ Brooy, plus of course, the vast experience of the BMF’s volunteer marshals without whom the BMF’s events would not happen.

Speaking on his appointment, Gareth said: “This is an exciting opportunity for me. It’s a big challenge but I want to build on the great work done by Paul and the team. I’m new to the world of motorcycling and its culture so I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone involved, especially as I’ve never got around to riding a bike! I’ll have to rectify that of course, but first, the BMF Show is only four months away and I reckon that will keep me pretty busy!”

The dates for this year’s events are:

BMF Show, Peterborough - 19th & 20th May

Garden of England Motorcycle Show, GEMS - 9th & 10th June

Kelso Bikefest - 14th & 15th July

Tail End, Peterborough - 15th & 16th September
