WOLVERHAMPTON SPEEDWAY NEWS
12 January 2007 - Wolverhampton Speedway
WOLVERHAMPTON have completed the signing of Newport asset Carl Wilkinson for the new season. Wilkinson, based in Boston, will be riding for Newcastle on loan in the Premier League but has now agreed to double-up with the Monmore Green side and will share one of the reserve slots with William Lawson. The news comes just days after Rye House youngster Steve Boxall turned down the position and Wilkinson already has the benefit of Elite League experience. He raced for Ipswich last season and was a big hit with Witches supporters as he achieved a 4.09 average from 11 outings, scoring 37-points in the process. Parrys International Wolves promoter Chris Van Straaten said: ''Carl had no hesitation in accepting our offer and he is very enthusiastic about this opportunity. ''We thought he may have stayed with Ipswich but they''re not using that option this year so we gained the necessary pernission to talk to him. ''He put in some impressive performances last season and at 25 he''s the perfect age to make big strides forward in his career. We''re delighted to have him on board.''
