SPEEDWAY 1 CZECH Republic showman Mario Jirout is back in British racing with Mildenhall. The former Peterborough man is looking to rebuild his career after a woeful spell with Newcastle. Fen Tigers chief Laurence Rogers said: ''Mario is a dependable, top rider and the fans will love him as he is a real crowd pleaser. He’s determined to show what he can produce and be firing on all cylinders.'' SPEEDWAY 2 OXFORD are to revert to their traditional Friday racenight for the new season. The Cheetahs have agreed the switch with their Cowley landlords and hopes are high of increased attendances. Co-promoter Aaron Lanney said: ''I’m pleased with Friday night racing at Cowley this year and I’m sure the fans view this as their racenight of choice. I hope this will encourage more fans to the stadium along with the kids go free scheme.'' FIXTURE SUNDAY JANUARY 14: NEW YEAR CLASSIC: Newport 1pm
