SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES - 11 JANUARY
11 January 2007 - British Speedway Promoters Association
SPEEDWAY 1 BELLE Vue have signed Sheffield duo Ricky Ashworth and Joel Parsons as part of their new-look squad. Parsons will share a doubling-up role with James Wright and Ashworth has been named as the club’s number eight. Salford-based Ashworth said: “I did think about trying to move into the Elite League but I''ve got a very good sponsorship at Sheffield and I want to be 100 per cent sure the time is right.” SPEEDWAY 2 POPULAR German Stephan Katt has revealed how he wants a place in the Elite League. The former Somerset man will ride in Telford’s ice meetings on February 11 alongside fellow countryman Matthias Kroger. Said Katt: “I would like to ride at number six or seven in the Elite League because I don’t think there are so many tracks that race on Saturdays and Sundays and I have a lot of commitments in Europe.” SPEEDWAY 3 SHEFFIELD co-owner Malcolm Wright is ready to sell his shares in the club to partner Neil Machin. Wright wants to retire from the sport’s administration to become a supporter on the terraces again after a decade at the Owlerton helm. He said: ''I''ve been in talks with Neil and I''m sure an agreement will be finalised which ensures the club is in good, safe hands for many years to come.” FIXTURE SUNDAY JANUARY 14: NEW YEAR CLASSIC: Newport 1pm
