SPEEDWAY POOLE have issued a statement slamming rumours about the sale of their Wimborne Road home. Matt Ford and Mike Golding were alarmed to take calls from worries fans – and the club have been assured their future is secure. Poole Council leader Brian Leverett said: ''It’s the aim of this Council to preserve that area as a stadium and protect and retain within Poole sports such as speedway.'' SPEEDWAY SAM Ermolenko insists his March 18 farewell meeting at Wolverhampton will be a happy occasion. The 1993 world champion, who helped Reading to the Elite League runners-up spot last season, will bring the curtain down on his glittering career with a speedway carnival.
