SPEEDWAY REDCAR have handed a team place to 18-year-old Jamie Courtney - the son of former Bears rider Mark. Courtney is managed by Redcar captain Gary Havelock and joins after previously racing for Workington and Rye House. Promoter Chris Van Straaten said: ''I would like to place on record my thanks to our skipper for his assistance in securing the services of this exciting young British talent.'' SPEEDWAY FATHER and son duo Les and Aidan Collins will once again team up in the Best Pairs event at the Telford Ice international on February 11. Organisers have already booked the top three from last year - Mario Jirout, Edward Kennett and Tony Atkin. Co-promoter Graham Drury said: ''The competition gets fiercer every year at Telford, as so many of the riders have mastered the knack of racing on the ice.''
