SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES 19.10.04
19 October 2004 - British Speedway Promoters Association

DANIEL King is the new British Under-18 champion after a tough battle with James Wright at Wolverhampton.

The Ipswich rider passed Wright on the line in the decisive Heat 16 and wrapped up the title with victory two races later. He finished on a 15-point maximum, Workington and Buxton man Wright scored 14 and Edward Kennett was also on the rostrum with 12. James Cockle and William Lawson scored 11 each.

HULL owner Paul Hodder believes his side have what it takes to win both meetings in their big double-header at Craven Park on Wednesday. They face the Isle of Wight in the second leg of the Knockout Cup Final at 7pm with the second leg of their Young Shield semi-final against Workington following that. Hodder said: ''It''s a massive night and a big test for us, but we can do it.''

CRAIG Watson is going in search of his second piece of individual glory at King''s Lynn on Wednesday. The Newport skipper is included in an impressive field at the Pride of the East after winning the Premier Chase at the Norfolk Arena earlier this season. Stars boss Buster Chapman said: ''It''s a high quality line-up and Craig will be in there challenging I''m sure, we also have a firework display to end the night.''
