LAP TIMING & DATA LOGGING FROM £140
06 January 2007 - Sports Timing Services Ltd

Alfano Product Review

What’s this then?

A lap timer with a difference. Rather than using a traditional beacon or GPS signal, the Alfano records laps and sector times via a magnetic strip embedded permanently in the track. This provides the most accurate and reliable method of recording laps and times.

Lap times are displayed on a compact back-lit dash, along with RPM and shift lights, gear position, speed, temperature and pressures data, warning lights, sector times and much more. Data can also be downloaded to a PC in the paddock to recall lap times, braking and track mapping.

Is it for me?

The Alfano has been around since 1995 and in that time over 1200 circuits worldwide have been equipped with the magnetic strips required to trigger the lap timing function and now almost every UK & European circuit have been installed. For the money the Alfano range is a real bargain and it’s a real neat bit of kit. Also, as the magnetic strips are already in place and permanently active you don’t have to worry about setting up beacons – simply head out on to the track. With 4 versions to choose from, starting at the entry-level Fun (£140), designed for basic lap timing, right up to the top-of-the range Astro model. So if you’re a serious race team looking to extract every ounce from your bike and rider or a track day enthusiast who’s after the optimum set-up then give these guys a call.
