CABESTANY NEW INDOOR TRIAL CHAMPION OF SPAIN
03 January 2007 - Sherco
The Sherco Rider clearly dominated the Championship with four victories in the eight rounds
With his third place finish in the last round of the Championship, which took place in the Barris Nord Building in Lleida, the Sherco rider, Albert Cabestany was proclaimed the new Indoor Trial Champion of Spain. Adding to the Championships that he won in 2002 and 2003. Albert Cabestany had an excellent indoor season, one in which he won four of the eight contests outright: Tarragona, Girona, Cordoba and Santander. Nevertheless despite this domination, the emotion has been at a high level to the very end. Albert had a bad ride in the second round (Zaragoza) which caused him to battle very hard in the rest of the contests because of a point''s handicap. The Sherco rider was able to turn the situation around with an excellent recovery and arrived at this last round not knowing who would emerge as the Champion, the points between Albert and Adam Raga were that close, which made for a very exciting finish. Albert was able to conquer the war of nerves over his chief rival. After the first round Albert''s score was such that it was mathematically impossible for anyone to win the Championship but Albert. The round was won by Toni Bou, followed by Jeroni Fajardo and then Albert Cabestany. This is the third Indoor Championship for Albert which makes him the most prize-winning Spanish Rider in this specialty.
