FIM CENTENARY CONGRESS - PARIS 2004

After the opening Ceremony, held this morning in the presence of the Minister of Youth & Sports of France Mr. Jean-François Lamour, the Interministerial Delegate for Road Safety Mr Rémy Heitz, the President of the French National Olympic and Sporting Committee (CNOSF) Henri Serandour, and various guests, the 122nd FIM Congress started with the session of the General Assembly in the Conference Centre of the Sofitel Paris Forum Rive Gauche in Paris (France) in the presence of the delegates of 78 National Federations (new record in the history of the FIM Congress).
- In his opening address, FIM President Francesco Zerbi gave a detailed report on the activities of the Management Council during the 2004 season. The report was unanimously approved by the General Assembly. The 2003 accounts and balance sheet were unanimously approved. - The National Federations of Bolivia (FBM), Ivory Coast (FISA) and Puerto Rico (FMPR) were accepted by the General Assembly as new FIM Members. - Messrs. Jorge Cabezas (Spain) and Andrzej Witkowski (Poland) were elected FIM Vice-Presidents. Messrs. Herbert Kring (Germany) and Jos Driessen (Belgium) were elected FIM Internal Auditors. - The General Assembly approved the proposal of the Management Council to set up a Working Group to study future amendments to the Statutes. Moreover, the General Assembly accepted the proposal to regulate the discipline of Freestyle at the FIM level. - Yesterday evening, the Management Council held the celebration dinner of the FIM Centenary at the restaurant Ledoyen, avenue des Champs-Elysées, where, on December 21 & 22, 1904, the members of motorcycling clubs of six different countries - Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany and Great Britain - founded the FICM (Fédération Internationale des Clubs Motocyclistes). - Tomorrow and Wednesday, the Commissions and Panels will have their working meetings.
